Only 130 euros donated on the 1720 euros of donations promised during one of the multiple events organized for the Telethon 2017. It is for this reason that the Association Française contre les Myopathies (AFM) has decided to lodge a complaint in October to breach of trust aggravated by the result of a misappropriation of funds, reports France Bleu Herault. The facts unfold in Plaissan, Hérault. It is a donor regular who has started this alert by realizing that his gift had been cashed by a person other than the AFM. After contacting her bank, she discovered that it is a caterer who had finally cashed in his cheque.

This donor is not the only one in this case. The organizer of the local Telethon has in effect recognized two adulterations, it ignores the origin. As well, these gifts would have been used for the purpose of paying the providers: 3629 euros for catering and more than 1700 euros for the rental of a marquee, according to figures from the town hall. It was however clarified, as at these events, that all the gifts would be donated to the AFM. Contacted by Le Figaro , the AFM does not wish to respond on the topic in order to let the investigation be done.

too important

According to the mayor of Plaissan, Beatrice Slave, quoted by the website of the radio regional, the organizer of the event would have been seen as too great. As well, she would have been overwhelmed by the number of guests in attendance and would have made mistakes, “without personal gain”, she says to France 3 Languedoc-Roussillon. Beatrice Slave explains that there were 300 registered, hiring a marquee has become mandatory. Then, the service provider would have given a price to the company, orally, before later add the various taxes and charges. The organizer regrets that the figures have been released too early on the site of the city, while the providers had not all been paid. It is reminiscent of the “blunders” and an “amateur’s mistake” which it does not know the cause, as regards the two counterfeit checks.
