In spring, when trees were knocked out and days were longer, people of Europe hung flags in windows of ir homes. They gared in squares of ir cities and let blue balloons rise into sky. In France, it should be elected, a President Marine Le Pen seemed possible and thus an exit of country from EU: A damage that Union might not have been able to withstand.

So much feeling for Europe – where is it today? What has become of it?

That is what has become of it: “Europe is not being strengned by fact that we are going to open up furr pots of funds that will diminish incentive for sound budgetary policies.” So FDP Europe politician Alexander Graf Lambsdorff. He responds to proposals for a new EU that French President Emmanuel Macron recently made. The money pot that Lambsdorff speaks of is supposed to be a budget for euro zone. Macron is hovering that an EU finance minister, after economic policy considerations, distributes investments in euro zone countries in downturn.

The outgoing finance minister Wolfgang Schäuble n expressed, practically as last official act, that he also did not consider Macron’s proposals. Instead, he wants a European Monetary Fund, that is, an intervention force that helps if it does not go any furr.

You can already see: Spring day in Europe is over, summer too. Europe is back where it has always been, with fine fiscal differences that hardly anyone understands. At beginning of year, Europe fell under skin of its inhabitants – when, with French drama, problems suddenly took on very concrete forms. Now Europe is again an issue for specialists and for everyone else as uninteresting as ever. Who wants to know exact difference between a rescue umbrella and a monetary fund?

This article comes from time No. 44/2017. Here you can read entire output.

However, re is no greater concern about Europe at moment, but it is not a matter of reality. In reality, Europe is about to explode. In this way, nothing has changed since beginning of year.

Of course, one can rejoice daily that Le Pen has not won. She’s not gone. She has just demonstrated her talent as a political seducer in a long TV interview. In Austria, an Antieuropean party will probably be part of government. In Czech Republic, new prime minister can be described at least as a European skeptic. No one knows what is going to be from Catalonia, while in norrn Italy next regional autonomy movement is already on strength.

And old problems are still re – reasons and symptoms of European crisis in one. In growing economy, young continue to be unemployed in south of Europe, almost 48 percent in Greece, 42 percent in Spain, and 25% in France. The sovereign debt continues. France: 96 percent, Italy: 132 per cent of gross domestic product. German and French economists have just warned in a call that a new debt or financial crisis in not too distant future could shake euro area.
