One person was wounded in a police-involved shooting Wednesday evening near Union Station, authorities said.

The shooting, which was believed to have involved an Amtrak police officer shooting someone, took place near Van Buren and Canal Streets about 8:45 p.m. One person was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Stroger Hospital, according to a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.

The officer was not injured, officials said.

Chicago police were not releasing information and referred questions to Amtrak police. Amtrak officials did not immediately respond to requests for information.

A large part of the block between Van Buren and Harrison streets was blocked off as a crime scene.

CTA buses were being rerouted in the area, according to the CTA.
