BURBANK >> Two teenage boys and a 25-year-old man — all described as documented gang members — were arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Burbank pizza shop two days before Christmas, police reported Thursday.

The robbery occurred just before 10 p.m. Dec. 23 at the Little Caesars Pizza franchise at 1009 W. Alameda Ave., according to Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

“Shortly after closing, two suspects approached the business and were greeted at the door by a female employee,” Losacco said. “One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the employee and (the two) forced their way into the store. Once inside, the suspects demanded money from the register. Before leaving, the suspects also stole the employee’s purse, wallet and cell phone.”

One of the employee’s credit cards was used at a Sun Valley convenience store a short time later, and on Jan. 5, a purchase attempt was made in Glendale using the victim’s ID, the sergeant said.

“The Glendale Police Department stopped the involved vehicle and found the victim’s identification and other documents inside the car,” Losacco said. “It was also determined that the vehicle was the getaway car used in the Little Caesars robbery.”

Detectives identified two boys — a 15-year-old from Hollywood and a 16-year-old from elsewhere in Los Angeles — and one adult, Carlos Ramirez of North Hollywood, as the suspects involved in the robbery, Losacco said.

On Jan. 25, Burbank police investigators served a search warrant at Ramirez’s residence and allegedly found clothing worn by the suspects during the robbery, as well as a handgun, ammunition and methamphetamine, he said.

All three suspects were booked on suspicion of armed robbery and identity theft, with a gang enhancement. The teenage suspects were taken to Juvenile Hall, and Ramirez was released on bond, Losacco said.
