TRENTON — A motor-vehicle stop on Elmhurst Avenue turned into a brief disturbance Monday night when a motorist continually yelled at police, then spit at an officer, police said.
The alleged spitter and two others were arrested for inciting the incident and not listening to police, Trenton police said.
Des Ingram, 44, was charged with aggravated assault (throwing bodily fluids at a law enforcement officer), resisting arrest, improper behavior, obstructing the law and traffic offenses after the 5:50 p.m. incident Monday in the West Ward.
Police said officers pulled him over for a traffic offense and found his vehicle was not registered, and would have to be towed.
Ingram was loud and unruly, but initially left the scene, police said. A short time later, he returned as officers were working with the two truck driver.
As a crowd gathered, and an unruly Ingram screamed and shouted at officers, he also tried to get into his vehicle. Ingram then spit at an officer, and was arrested, police said.
Two other men, John Gillom, 34, and Alberto Garnier, 31, were arrested when they refused to listen to police and incited others at the scene. Both had been warned they’d be arrested if they persisted, police said. They’re charged with improper behavior and obstructing the law.
