Three men were shot dead and two others were left seriously wounded in a home in the Brighton Park neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene near Pershing Road and Albany Avenue shortly before 3 p.m.  At least three ambulances were at the scene, and a person was seen being taken out on a stretcher.

An early report indicated at least four people were shot in the home. Police later said three people were fatally shot and two men were in critical condition.

An 18-year-old was shot in the head, as well as a 19-year-old. Another victim whose age was not available suffered a wound to the torso and initially was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. All three of those men have been pronounced dead, police said.

Another victim, also 18, was shot in the torso and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he is in critical condition. The fifth victim, 19, was in critical condition at Mount Sinai, police said.

Police believe one of the injured victims ran to a nearby business to call police.

According to reports, a suspect entered the residence, pulled out a weapon and shot the victims. Police think narcotics were involved.

"I was scared,  panicking, especially scared,” said Juanita Velasco, who has lived in the Brighton Park neighborhood for six years.

Velasco said she was walking to a nearby school to pick up her three children when she saw a man screaming outside near a house. By the time she returned, several ambulances were at the scene, she said.

Velasco said there have been several shootings in the area over the past three years

No arrests had been made in the case as of Wednesday evening and detectives continue investigating, police said.

Other shootings Wednesday:

• About 1:50 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot several times in the 7000 block of South Jeffery Boulevard in the South Shore neighborhood, police said.

Preliminary reports indicated the man was approached by several people who opened fire. He was taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

• A 15-year-old boy was shot shortly before 11:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Elizabeth Street in Englewood, police said.

The boy told police an older man walked up to a porch where he was standing and shot him in the foot.

He was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition, police said.  But officials said evidence contradicts the boy’s story and they believe the wound was self-inflicted.
