MADRID, 28 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
52% of Spaniards do their Christmas shopping on the Black Friday weekend or before the month of December, according to the data from the survey carried out by YouGov for Yahoo.
Specifically, in categories such as clothing or beauty, almost 40% of consumers go ahead to make purchases, while, in the case of jewelry, almost 35% make purchases during the month of the holidays.
On the other hand, the increase in costs is having an impact on Christmas plans, so 52% of consumers say they will spend more or less the same as last year, while 34% say they plan to spend less on Christmas items compared to last year.
The economic situation determines the purchasing behavior of consumers, so 26% of Spaniards expect to reduce the number of gifts they will buy for their family and friends this Christmas compared to last year, in fact, half (50% ) claims that it will reduce the number of ‘expensive’ gifts they buy.
In this economic context, more than two-thirds of consumers (68%) expect retailers and brands to freeze prices or offer lower prices. 62% expect brands to offer discounts or ‘cashback’ taking into account the cost of living crisis.
