This Monday in Laval, the 16-year-old won gold and bronze medals in the long jump and high jump respectively. However, it is not her athletic abilities that are mentioned first when talking to her teammates or her coach.
“It’s the little comedy of the gang. She smiles and encourages all the time. She is always present for us, ”said Laurence Bélanger, 13, from the outset. I’ve never heard her brag about being good and she absolutely could. She is very humble.”
“Rosemarie, she is always there to encourage, added Jeanne Burton. She never talks about herself. Earlier today [Monday] she won the gold in the long and she didn’t even tell us. We learned it from another person.”
“His smile is contagious,” continued the gold medalist in the 400m hurdles.
For his part, coach Erwan Le Mouel is privileged to rub shoulders with the native of the native of Saint-Jean-sur-le-Richelieu.
“His attitude is exemplary, said the mentor who was notably a member of the Rouge et Or athletics team at Laval University. I have the chance to coach her every morning at 7:30. She always has a big smile and sparkling eyes. It’s a real ray of sunshine.”
Always positive
In the high jump final, Rosemarie Carrier missed her three attempts at 1.60m. Every time she dropped the bar, she would come back to her trainer with a smile that was ear to ear.
“I think I’ve always been like that,” she explained. When I know less good performances, I always tell myself that it will be better next time.
The one who will start secondary 5 in September can still be proud of her performance. But once again, it is with humility that she speaks of her medal harvest.
“I had no expectations, but I am pleasantly surprised. All the athletes present here have the desire to win a medal. I’m glad it happened to me.”
From the stands, two people were admiring Rosemarie’s prowess and attitude.
“We are really proud of her, expressed her father, Martin Carrier. It’s remarkable to see her progress and interact with her teammates.”
“Rosemarie has always been a child with a smile. I find that she is beautiful to see going,” added her mother, Mélanie Caron.
Rosemarie Carrier will have the chance to add to her crop on Tuesday, she who will participate in the 4x100m relay. We bet, however, that it will again be his cries of encouragement that will attract more attention.
