A man died, presumably following a family dispute that occurred late Saturday evening in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, in Centre-du-Québec.

Around 11:30 p.m., a call was received at 911 concerning an “unconscious” man in a home on the Old Church Road, said Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where the doctors could only confirm his death.

According to the first elements collected by the investigators, an intra-family altercation would have occurred in the moments preceding the death. A 36-year-old man was also arrested on the spot and was to be met during the day to try to find out more about this event, said Sergeant Tremblay.

No charges were immediately raised.

An autopsy is also planned to try to determine the exact cause of the victim’s death. His body showed no signs of a stab or gunshot wound, provincial police said.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the SQ’s Crimes Against Persons and Major Crimes units.
