The one who has dual Canadian and Italian citizenship had temporarily aligned with the Bologna U-18s in March to take part in the Viareggio Tournament, a prestigious event held in Tuscany.

The 17-year-old midfielder had scored one goal and one assist.

“After the tournament, Matteo explained to us that he really liked the European experience and that he wanted to continue his career there,” said CF Montreal sports director Olivier Renard in a press release.

It’s good that he can do it with our partner club.”

Schiavoni was also invited to CF Montreal training camp in the winter. Since joining the Academy in 2019, he has played through the U-14, U-15, U-17 and U-23 ranks.
