TSA PreCheck lets screened, low-risk travelers to bypass regular security lines and go through designated checkpoints without taking off their shoes, coats, belts and removing their laptop and liquids from their bags.
Anyone interested must apply to the Transportation Security Administration for a screening and schedule an in-person appointment for fingerprinting.
LVIA is hosting a temporary open enrollment center March 6-10 and March 13-17.
The closest full-time center is in Fort Washington, Pa.
“During a two-week period last October, nearly 1,500 people gained access to TSA PreCheck by taking advantage of having this opportunity right in their own backyard,” Charles Everett, executive director of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, said in a news release.
The airport announced the enrollment opportunity on its Twitter account Tuesday. It was so popular, LVIA announced Thursday that more than 500 appointments had been booked already, so the second week was added.
