Number 12 was rumored for several months before accepting $150.8 million to continue his association with the Packers. He had also mentioned the end of his career on a few occasions to finally remain in the fold of the club having drafted him in the first round of the 2005 NFL auction. And the idea seems to be firmly anchored in his head.
“I think about it all the time,” he admitted of retirement on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Golf Match he won alongside Tom Brady against Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. And, I completely respect what Tom said about an uncertain state of mind. You know, when you commit, you go 100%.”
“However, as you get older, your interests change. Your obligations weigh a little more on your shoulders. Yes, the football side is the easy part. It’s fun. Rather, it is the other aspect of the matter that affects you and makes you think about life after football. Tommy has certainly set the bar so high by playing so many years, but I can really see the end coming, ”he added, as reported by the site 247sports.com.
Rodgers, 38, is the two-time defending recipient of the NFL’s Most Outstanding Player Award. In 2021, he completed 68.9% of his passes for 4,115 yards, 37 touchdowns and four interceptions, helping the Packers post the best record in the National Conference during the regular season. Green Bay, however, suffered second-round elimination to the San Francisco 49ers.
