Quebec artist Alexandre Da Costa was the guest soloist for this major show, which was part of the events celebrating the jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

“It was a mega success, explained to the Journal Alexandre Da Costa from London, a few hours after his performance. I am very honored to have been able to do this concert, which was Hungary’s gift for the Queen’s Jubilee, a musical review with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the largest dance theater in the world [Sadler’s Wells Theatre] with more than 150 artists on stage. »

If Her Majesty the Queen had to cancel her presence at Friday’s events – including the mass celebrating the 70th anniversary of her reign – representatives of the royal family as well as several dignitaries were present at this great concert. An event “a little more stressful than usual”, admitted the musician, who certainly felt additional pressure to deliver a faultless interpretation.

Hungarian works

Dressed in a black tuxedo trimmed with sequins, he performed Bartók’s Rhapsody No. 2 as well as several other Hungarian works. The only other guest foreign artist was conductor emeritus Oleg Caetani.

“By putting on stage a foreign star soloist who represented a school of virtuosity located outside Hungary [which saw the birth of the greatest virtuosos], we wanted to demonstrate that Hungarian works are taught all over the world”, added the one who will launch the album I remember on June 10th.
