Renfe offers 2.5 million seats
A total of 4,370 high-speed trains from Renfe, Iryo and Ouigo, and medium and long distance trains from Renfe will circulate this weekend during the first phase of operation leaving Easter, between yesterday and Sunday.
This Friday will be the busiest day, with 1,240 circulations, according to data from Adif, which expects 254 trains leaving or arriving in Madrid-Puerta de Atocha Almudena Grandes and 915 throughout these four days, and 198 from Chamartín-Clara Campoamor, with a total of 700 during the operation leaving from this Madrid station.
In Barcelona-Sants the departure or arrival of 530 trains is scheduled between Thursday and Sunday; in Seville Santa Justa, 300; and in València Joaquín Sorolla, a total of 268 trains.
Likewise, during the weekend the departure and arrival of 280 trains are scheduled at the Zaragoza-Delicias station; 200 trains in Valladolid-Campo Grande and 76 in Ourense.
The evolution of rail traffic planned in the first phase of the operation starting at Easter responds to the growth trend registered by this mode of transport, mainly high-speed, after it soared by 36.5% in 2023 with Over the previous year.
Between January and February 2024, rail traffic rose 8.4% more compared to the first two months of 2023, and 21.7% in the case of high speed. By corridors, Madrid-Andalusia grew at a rate of 34.3%, followed by Madrid-Levante (28.9%), Madrid-Barcelona (10.1%) and Madrid-Valladolid León-Zamora-Galicia (6 ,4%).
MORE THAN 2.5 MILLION RENFE SEATS
Renfe alone has put just over 4,000 AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed, Intercity and Media Distancia trains to travel during this weekend, offering more than 2.5 million seats among all its commercial trains.
The public operator has increased capacity these days with more than 40,000 extra seats on its AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed and Intercity trains to the most popular destinations. The days of greatest demand coincide with the start and return of the holidays, Wednesday and Thursday and return Sunday and Monday.
Likewise, it offers more than 1.5 million seats in total between the Avant and Media Distancia services that link the entire territory. Travelers also have the Cercanías and Rodalies service.
