According to Nova Bus, this is its largest order for this type of vehicle in Canada.

Halifax Regional Council has authorized the purchase of 30 40-foot (12.2-meter) buses by 2023, and up to 30 more by 2024.

This order is Halifax Transit’s first all-electric purchase. It is part of the city’s HalifACT program, which aims to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The company also wants to electrify 50% of its fleet by 2028. The special motor of Nova Bus buses allows, among other things, to reduce maintenance costs and eliminate greenhouse gases.

“We strongly believe in the importance of supporting transport companies in their transition to electromobility in order to achieve our collective goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” said Nova Bus President Martin Larose. , by press release.
