Aquila Clean Energy and Axpo have signed a set of power purchase agreements (PPAs) and representation services for two photovoltaic plants with a total installed capacity of 66 megawatts (MW) located in Spain, the companies reported. .

Through these PPAs, the developer Aquila Clean Energy provides Axpo Iberia with 100% renewable energy. For its part, the Swiss renewable energy producer will provide representation services for the two photovoltaic plants.

The two solar parks, located in Almería and Toledo, produce a total of more than 120 gigawatt hours (GWh) of 100% clean energy, the equivalent of the annual energy consumption of around 35,000 Spanish homes. In addition, this energy will save a volume of emissions of more than 33,000 tons of CO2 per year, the equivalent of 19,240 cars on the road.

The head of Power Hedging and Research of Aquila Clean Energy for Iberia, Marcos Domínguez, pointed out that the signing of this new contract represents “one more step” for the company in its commitment to promote the energy transition and shows that it continues to be committed to reducing of carbon emissions. “We are very aware of the importance of this type of project and in this sense, we are going to continue working in this direction,” he said.

For his part, the general director of Axpo Iberia, Ignacio Soneira, thanked “the trust of Aquila Clean Energy to make a new renewable electricity generation project a reality in the Iberian Peninsula”.

The two photovoltaic plants are part of the portfolio of around 3 GW that Aquila Clean Energy manages in Spain with projects in different stages of development, construction and operation in various parts of the country.
