A facility in Monroe County for helping veterans of the United States’ armed services was the scene of a bomb scare last week, Pennsylvania State Police said Thursday.
No one was injured in the incident reported at 9:55 a.m. Jan. 26 at the House of VALOR, 1130 Scenic Drive in Kunkletown.
House of VALOR (Veterans Assisted Living Out Reach) is run by a nonprofit and also known as Paul’s House: Major Paul Syverson Veterans Sanctuary, according to its Facebook page.
VALOR, founded in 2008, seeks to help veterans through recovery and rebuilding, according to its website.
An unidentified perpetrator “created a false scenario about a possible bomb threat” at the Kunkletown facility by leaving “a large military ordnance/inert shell near a donation drop-off box” on site, state police at Lehighton said in a news release.

Police were continuing to investigate and had not as of Thursday publicly identified a suspect or the intent of whoever dropped off the shell. Investigators labeled the incident terroristic threats.
