A 103-year-old Swedish grandmother on Sunday broke the world record for the oldest person to perform a tandem skydive, saying she was planning to celebrate “with a cupcake”.

“It was wonderful to do this, I had been thinking about it for a long time,” Rut Larsson told Swedish news agency TT, adding: “Everything went as planned.”

With his family and friends waiting for him at the airfield, Rut Larsson made his jump at Motala, 240 kilometers southwest of Stockholm.

The duo landed softly, while assistants rushed at her with her walker to help her up.

She said she liked “the slow sliding down from the top, I think it’s nice.”

A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records was present to record the jump. Rut Larsson, who is 103 years and 259 days old, broke the previous record, held by a person of 103 years and 181 days.
