ATLANTIC CITY— A 10-year veteran of the police department was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend Tuesday, the department said in a statement.

A tipster called the police department’s Internal Affairs division and reported that a woman had been hospitalized after being assaulted in Galloway Township. The injuries were non-life-threatening, authorities said.

After interviewing the victim, who was not identified, police arrested Officer Dayton Brown, 44, of Galloway Township. Brown, who was suspended without pay, was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
