A 48-year-old man lost his life after being stabbed overnight from Friday to Saturday in a motel room in the borough of Saint-Hubert, in Longueuil.

The assault occurred around 9:10 p.m., in the establishment on Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier Boulevard.

A 52-year-old man, resident of Saint-Hubert, was arrested and will have to appear during the day at the Longueuil courthouse. He could face a murder charge. He was known to the police.

The victim and the suspect knew each other, according to the Longueuil agglomeration police service (SPAL).

“Investigators are still trying to determine the causes of the event and will meet a witness soon,” he said.

A security perimeter was erected to allow investigators to analyze the scene.
