The hassle caused by the massive snowstorm is now a thing of the past at Montreal-Trudeau airport, but travelers whose holiday season was ruined continue to be frustrated with the airlines.

“The situation is back to normal,” said Anne Marcotte, director of public affairs at Aéroports de Montréal.
“There are cancellations today [Monday], but for operational reasons at the airlines, it is not related to airport operations at all,” she adds.
Mainly due to bad weather, more than 150 flights were canceled last Friday, spoiling the start of the Christmas festivities for several hundred travelers.
Everything gradually resolved over the weekend, but ADM was unable to draw up a report on Monday.
In addition, flight cancellations were made Monday by Sunwing for departures to Cancún, Mexico, and Liberia, Costa Rica.
Air Canada also had to do the same for flights to Toronto and New York.
sharp criticism
It was enough for voices to rise again to denounce Sunwing’s services.
Several citizens hoping to land in Montreal or Quebec are, for example, stuck in Cancún, unable to obtain details from the company.
“We waited, without information, for two days,” says Deborah Whalen-Bard. Families with small children, elderly people who need medication are waiting at the airport and sleeping. »
Stéphane Thériault, who is accompanied by his two children and his spouse, has the impression of seeing Sunwing “implode” before his eyes.
“Even the representatives who are on the spot, we see that they are receiving information in dribs and drabs, they are not sure of what they are telling us”, mentions to the Journal the one who does not know where his family was going to sleep.
A cross on the holidays?
The frustration is also felt at the Jean-Lesage airport. Anne Perron and her spouse took it for granted early Monday afternoon that they might have to cut their trip to Cancún.
“We really needed that extra holiday this year. It wasn’t a luxury for us, it was a need,” said Ms. Perron.
In a written statement, Sunwing explained that the weather of the past few days continued to affect its operations.
“For Southern departures that have been canceled due to inclement weather, customers will receive a full refund to the original form of payment,” it was assured.
