BBVA Allianz, the bancassurance joint venture of BBVA and Allianz, has appointed Pablo Lafarga as its new Chief Business Officer (CBO), replacing Carles Alsina, as reported this Tuesday in a note. of press.
Allianz has highlighted that Lafarga, who has “extensive” experience in the Spanish banking sector, will also occupy a position on the management committee of BBVA Allianz.
Lafarga came from BBVA Spain, where he was responsible for transactional banking for companies.
In this sense, the new Business Director of BBVA Allianz has more than 25 years of experience in business management, with a special focus on the real estate sector, treasury management and short-term financing for companies in Spain.
Lafarga joined BBVA in 1997 and, after a three-year break, between 2018 and 2021, where he was in charge of the commercial management of “important” Real Estate groups, he returned to the financial institution to lead its transactional banking for companies.
Thus, Lafarga has joined the BBVA Allianz team “to boost the growth of its business, marked by its commitment to digital transformation and adaptation to new customer demands.”
In this way, Lafarga has replaced Carles Alsina, who has ended “his outstanding professional career, with a great impact on the BBVA Allianz project.”

The general director of BBVA Allianz, Maite Archaga, recalled that Lafarga, during his “extensive experience” at BBVA, has demonstrated his leadership skills and great commitment to his work.
