This is one of the few achievements of the reform plan for public Action to 2022, launched in 2018. The removal of small taxes will continue in 2020, with the programmed disappearance of 18 of them, after 26 in 2019, according to an article in the draft budget for 2020, of which The Figaro had knowledge.

“By reducing the number of levies on individuals and companies, this article aims to simplify tax law, reduce the tax burden and the reporting formalities and to reduce costs of recovery”, one can read in the explanatory memorandum to the text sent for the opinion of the Council of State. The whole thing should cost 256 million euros in revenues in 2020 (counting also the deletions recorded to 2020 in the budget 2019) and € 199 million in 2021. In three years, from 2019 to 2021, approximately 587 million euros of small taxes will have disappeared from the tax code.

For the State, these deletions represent a cost… but sometimes also savings.
