The body of a missing 23-year-old woman was found Saturday, the Clatsop County Sheriff announced.

Brianna Judge’s body was recovered from the Nehalem River near Riverbend Road in Clatsop County around 5:45 p.m. Missing since Jan. 10, Judge was last seen leaving her home near Jewell, the Sheriff’s Office had said. Officials and family have said she left her home for a walk near the rural towns of Elsie and Jewell, and she never returned.

Her boots were later found near on the edge of a bridge near Oregon 103 and Tweedle Road, officials had said.

A county medical examiner reviewed the body at the scene where she was recovered and found no signs of foul play, Sheriff Tom Bergin said in a news release.

The body’s recovery ends a difficult search during a month filled with extreme weather making it difficult for family and search and rescue crews to search for Judge’s body, the sheriff said.

“Several large searches were conducted, including waterborne searches and searches from the air, since mid-January,” he said. “Extreme inclement weather and flooding hampered the searches and unfortunately all searches were unsuccessful.”

Her body has been scheduled for an autopsy, he said, and the death investigation is ongoing.
