A 30-year-old man died after completing the Brooklyn Half Marathon in New York on Saturday morning, authorities report.

The runner, whose identity has not been revealed, may have succumbed to cardiac arrest around 9:00 a.m.
He collapsed on the sidewalk after crossing the finish line. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The temperature at the time of the tragedy was around 21 degrees and the humidity was over 80%.
A police officer told the New York Post that four people passed out at the end of the race. The New York Fire Department, for its part, indicated that 16 runners had to be hospitalized, including five with serious injuries.
