Two defense contractors with operations in this region have landed deals that will bring some work to Central Florida.
Lockheed Martin officials announced Thursday that the company had begun work on a previously approved contract with the U.S. Navy.
The $166 million deal calls for the delivery of 63 of the company’s electronic Consolidated Automated Support Systems, known as eCASS.
The system automates a procedure that tests, both at sea and land, systems on the Navy’s ships, aircraft and submarines.
The company’s Rotary and Mission System division in Orlando will help Lockheed fill the order.
In Melbourne, Harris Corporation will supply a communications system for the Republic of Turkey’s air traffic management services.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Harris’ system also supports the United States’ Federal Aviation Authority and the U.K.’s National Air Traffic Services.
Harris Corporation’s stock on Thursday reached an all-time high, surpassing $108 per share for the first time.
Meanwhile, Lockheed Martin’s stock has also been nearing an all-time high, hovering around $264 per share.
