– The design of the dial and band is inspired by the Tateyama mountain range in Japan’s Toyama prefecture, where Hachimura hails from
TOKYO, Nov. 7, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of the DW-6900RH, a new addition to the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches. The DW-6900RH is the firm’s third model designed in collaboration with professional basketball player Rui Hachimura, who plays in the NBA.
Hachimura not only plays for the Washington Wizards, but is also a key member of the Japan national basketball team. Casio signed a global collaboration agreement with Hachimura in November 2019 to support him in his pursuit of great things.
The new DW-6900RH is a signature model designed in collaboration with Hachimura. This design begins with the shock-resistant DW-6900, nicknamed the “three-eyed watch” for the row of three indicators on the dial, and highlights the Tateyama mountain range in Hachimura’s home prefecture, Toyama.
An outline map of the Tateyama Mountain Range is printed on the dial, while the light blue print on the white strap depicts the majestic snow-capped peaks. As befits a flagship model, RUI HACHIMURA adorns the watch glass and his “Black Samurai” logo appears on the case back, on the LCD screen when the backlight is on, and on the special packaging. The vibrant light blue and white color scheme draws inspiration from Hachimura’s roots, bringing to life melting snow in the Japanese Alps.
Hachimura said the following about his latest signature watch: “I have designed this third model based on the image of the Tateyama Mountains in my hometown, Toyama, a place that brings back good memories, with the vivid colors and great view of Tateyama as a reason. I hope everyone enjoys it.”
