HAMBURG, Germany, Nov. 14, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The first batch of XCHARGE Net Zero Series (NZS) energy storage chargers is scheduled to arrive in Hamburg before Christmas, the different chargers will be shipped to scattered customers afterwards. across Europe within just 6 months of its official launch. This new product integrates electric vehicle chargers with energy storage solutions, which is intended to save on installation costs, improve grid stability and provide continuous power supply in the event of grid instability.

The Net Zero Series charger has a 233 kWh capacity battery (expandable to 466 kWh in the future), has a power of up to 210 kW to charge up to two vehicles in parallel in less than 30 minutes, the NZS offers an innovative retractable cabling system, 4G communications, modular upgrade and an intelligent energy management system to boost energy reliability and resilience in Europe.

Facilitate alternative energy storage

This new charger stands out for its battery capacity, with energy storage being a critical issue in Europe today. Faced with rising energy prices, the European Commission has issued a series of measures to stabilize the energy supply and focus on the digitalization of the energy system, including the intelligent energy management system.[1]

Aiming to meet the growing demand for electricity without overloading the grid, XCHARGE offers solutions to address this particular problem by deploying NZS across Europe. The charger allows charging point operators (CPO) to manage the periods in which they want to feed the battery, and thus be prepared for high consumption and network saturation. On the other hand, during peak hours, vehicles can be charged using only battery storage instead of power from the grid, or they can be charged from a combination of battery and grid.

Similarly, Britain is also facing energy challenges this winter. The National Grid has warned that the instability of the electricity system may cause blackouts during the months of January and February, due to the shortage of wind energy and the restriction of energy imports from France, Belgium, the Netherlands, etc.[ two] NZS Power Reserve Mode easily mitigates risks by allowing a certain amount of power to be reserved to prevent emergencies.

Fast charging as always

While providing a balance between high charging power and a robust energy storage system is the goal of NZS, as with other XCHARGE fast and ultra-fast chargers, charging speed and end-user experience remain critical. the focus of the design.

Electric vehicles are now increasingly capable of charging at higher power levels, requiring the charger to provide higher power output in order to reduce charging times to the minimum possible. The NZS is capable of charging a single connected vehicle at 210 kW, which translates to charging a vehicle from 10% to 80% SOC in around 20 minutes. In addition, it allows simultaneous charging with two connected vehicles.

Allows easy installation for CPOs

One of the biggest concerns of the CPOs is the enormous amount of time that passes from the presentation of the request for connection to the network and power expansion, until the moment in which the recharging station is up and running, the duration can vary between 6 months and 3 years depending on different countries. When installing the NZS, connection to the grid is greatly simplified and speeded up thanks, firstly, to the fact that the equipment can work at grid powers of only 30 or 60 kW, and, secondly, to the ease of installation of By connecting directly to the standard industrial plug available on the rear of the charger, thus eliminating the need for civil engineering work, most CPOs will no longer be affected by this lengthy and costly process.

The deployment of XCHARGE NZS in Europe brings powerful solutions to the electric vehicle industry and helps in its mission to achieve emission reduction targets. The NZS will help reshape the future of electric vehicle charging by offering a more sustainable, reliable, fast and continuous way of charging.
