Medical expert reports are the instrument that any lawyer needs to start an extrajudicial negotiation or file a lawsuit on behalf of his client to claim damages due to accident or medical malpractice. Medical experts are classified by specialties within each provincial Medical Association and act according to their experience and knowledge.

It is important that the medical expert has the specialty that each case requires to assert the credibility of his experience and knowledge in each case. The experts can act at the request of a party or the Court itself, either for free Justice or at the request of the Judge who requires scientific advice in the medical area to be judged.

In recent years, the demands have increased significantly and the experts work from different expert offices. One of the most recognized cabinets is “LRL Associated Medical Experts”, which brings together about 50 experts from different specialties. Its director is Dr. Alfonso Roldán, who explains that “half of the work we do has to do with the assessment of bodily harm or issues related to work disabilities, work accidents, traffic accidents and the degree of disability.”

Lawsuits for negligence are the ones that have increased the most in recent years. Dr. Roldán confirms that “the most numerous demands are those of neurology due to the sequelae they generate, but those of Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Medicine are those that are demanding the most expert services, such as those of Gynecology and Obstetrics. The work of an expert is extremely important because it not only establishes claim values, but also confirms whether or not there is viability of a possible claim for alleged malpractice, saving costs to the citizen with claims without scientific support. The professional experience and degree of specialization of each medical expert is vital to obtain the best results”.
