President Trump has promised to replace Obamacare with “something terrific.” As there is yet no clue as to what this something is, I would like to offer my suggestion.

The World Health Organization in 2016 ranks the U.S. health system performance as 37th of 190 countries, just below Costa Rica. In 2014, the cost per capita to achieve that middling ranking was $9,403 with $4,541 coming from taxpayers to fund Medicare and Medicaid, which provides care for 34 percent of Americans.

The same WHO database ranks the United Kingdom at 11th in performance. In 2014, the British paid only $3,935 per capita to obtain this higher level of care, with $3,272 coming from taxpayers. In Britain, this amount funds the health care of every citizen of the Commonwealth.

Based on these statistics, a “terrific” approach for America would be to contract out our health care to the British and simply eliminate all our employer-sponsored and private health insurance companies along with their armies of bureaucrats whose sole function appears to be charging us money to inform us that they will not pay for our treatment.

In addition to saving $4,862 per person by removing these parasites, Americans would each receive a

$1,269 tax rebate.
