In a joint initiative against different quality standards, nine Eastern European Union countries want to advocate higher food quality in ir countries. Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and Lithuania are disadvantaged by international companies. The states accuse companies of selling poorer quality food at higher prices to Eastern Europe.

“There must be no second-class citizens in European Union,” said Slovak minister Gabriela Matecna in Bratislava. There, agricultural and food experts from nine countries met to compare test results and to discuss furr steps.
For 13th of October, a summit meeting entitled “Same product quality for all” is scheduled in Slovak capital. This will also be attended by EU Commissioner for Consumer Protection, Vera Jourova, and representatives of European Parliament.
In recent months, some Eastern European countries have repeatedly accused mselves of receiving inferior foods. Several comparative tests should provide a factual basis for this accusation.
