taxpayers’ prayers. Very concretely, the tax administration calculates a tax rate at source – or down payments, for your property income for example – from the last tax return made. The application of this rate allows the deduction of the tax every month.
In the spring, tax hotbeds prepare a new tax return. The latter makes it possible to assess whether the taxpayer is liable for an income tax balance, in relation to its withholding tax. The withholding tax rate is subject to change if incomes have changed, up or down.
How to make a simulation of your 2021 income tax?
Do you want to calculate your income tax in order to predict what awaits you at the end of the summer? The easiest way is to use the income tax simulator made available by the taxman. Before starting the simulation, get your hands on the following: net taxable income , expenses , tax benefits and withholding taxes. The more specific elements you bring, the fairer your income tax simulation will be . You will then get an estimate of your income tax for the year 2020, with the application of a discount or not, and you will know if you owe a balance in the summer against what you have already paid.
Prefer to calculate it yourself? Calculating income tax will take you a little longer. You will need to get your hands on your net taxable income, then determine the number of shares in your tax household, deduct your expenses and then apply the income tax schedule (read below), not to mention your tax benefits (tax credits and reductions). Who is entitled to an income tax refund in 2021?
Some taxpayers were surprised to receive a refund, directly to their bank account, from the irs over the summer. In detail, there are only two circumstances in which this situation arises:
When viewing your 2021 income tax return for 2020, the taxman assessed that your withholding tax was greater than the total amount of income tax you owe for the tax year. The administration therefore reimburses the difference. You receive the remaining regular tax credit deposit received in mid-January (example: employment at home, care costs for a child under 6 years old outside the home…).
There is no step to take upstream, except to check your bank details.
Actual fees and income tax, how does it work?
In the absence of your initiative, the tax administration applies a standard deduction of 10% to all employees for professional expenses. If you feel that this deduction does not cover all of your expenses, you have the option to deduct these expenses for their actual amount.
