The students of the Transition to Adult and Working Life (Ptval) program at the CEE San Pelayo in Seville presented their traditional Solidarity Birth this Tuesday. Located in a space of more than 100 square meters on the ground floor of the Los Arcos shopping center, these young people between 16 and 20 years old have given life to a total of 200 scale figures and several scenes, assembled “following the Andalusian tradition.” and decorated with green indoor plants, reeds, burlap, straw and albero.
As explained by the shopping center, these are “traditional scenes but made up of the noble look and brilliance of their authors.” “Smiling figures, friendly faces, family scenes of play and work, all made in clay to compose a Nativity that goes through the different biblical scenes, such as ‘The Annunciation’ or the ‘Adoration of the Three Wise Men in the Manger’, which surprise to the visitor through a surprising montage,” they added.
In this sense, the manager of the shopping center, Ernesto Pardo, has been “proud” that Los Arcos “will once again host this Bethlehem that represents support for inclusion and mutual respect.” For Pardo, this is a project in which “the diversity that enriches our lives” has been valued and that at the same time has shown “the human connection and the ability to integrate these students into the workplace.”
A solidarity Nativity Scene that the San Pelayo Foundation began in 1992, with the creation of some initial figures and scenes by students and teachers, until completing years later the great final result that today is located in Los Arcos and is open to all your visitors.
For her part, the president of the San Pelayo Foundation, María José Carralero, has stressed that “among all the professionals of the Foundation and their students we form a family”, while creating, as she explained, “a showcase to give visibility to people with functional diversity, showing their daily effort and skills.
After the intervention of the president of the foundation, the parish priest of the Church of Santa Clara, Esteban Labrador, blessed those present to give way to the inauguration of the Nativity, which was accessible to all the attendees, “who were able to enjoy a vast artistic creation equipped with lighting that alternates the phases of the day in Bethlehem itself”.

Thus, the students of the CEE San Pelayo have thanked the Los Arcos shopping center for its collaboration with functional diversity. “We have felt that our skills have been valued by the community and we are proud that our Nativity is now in Los Arcos and is exposed to the entire Sevillian public,” they added.
Through months-long work, the students of the Ptval program have demonstrated their skills in creating spaces and handmade figures with clay, a material that they have used as a base to add slip and acrylic paint, applying the techniques of ironing and the polychrome.
This activity completes the Los Arcos Christmas activities agenda, which includes activities with different associations such as Amama, or the launch of an immersive experience, ‘The Birth of the Stars’, the establishment of a new carousel attraction and the collaboration of the shopping center itself with the parade of the San Pablo District – Santa Justa.
