The escape room buzz continues, this time with another venue debuting in Irvine this week.

Puzzle Brothers Escape Rooms will open an Irvine location Friday. It’s the third such concept in the city and among a handful scattered across the county.

The Irvine venue is the first escape room for friends Jason Touchman, Jason Kleinschmit and Dylan DeFatta, who all have a background in set design.

Touchman has worked in set design for theater and video game development; DeFatta in set design for high-end haunted attractions; and Kleinschmit in set design and construction for the television industry.

The trio’s escape room will be configured around the theme “Art Heist.” In the game, you have one hour to ‘procure’ your recently deceased grandfather’s final masterpiece before his latest muse gets it.

Escape Rooms have been popping up around the country. In Orange County, there are several, including venues in Fullerton, Anaheim, Orange and Mission Viejo. Participants pay to be locked inside a room with their friends. They must find clues and use them to get out of the room.

Puzzle Brothers has two more escape rooms in production in San Diego.

The Puzzle Brothers Escape Room is at 17971 Sky Park Circle, Suite L, just across the 405 from John Wayne Airport. A spin through the escape room costs $34.95 per person; it’s open Thursday through Sunday.
