HANGZHOU, China, March 29, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — DEEP Robotics Co., a global pioneer in the development and industrial application of quadruped robots, today announced that a team of five Jueying X20 robots has successfully completed a series of collaborative autonomous searches in a trial with eight different scenarios in an unknown environment of 3,000 square meters.
In simulated emergency searches, the robots were required to retrieve flammable and explosive objects, as well as rescue injured people. For this, the five X20 robots were equipped with a high-resolution panoramic camera, LiDAR and a Mesh network. They then coordinated with each other to cover different search areas and complete the tasks.
“Teams working on emergency search or oilfield exploration often face challenges such as insufficient data about the oilfield and risks to their personal safety. That’s where these robots can provide valuable help,” Wei Tang said. , Head of Algorithm Engineering at DEEP Robotics.
Using laser technology for a synchronous mapping and positioning algorithm, the location environment is mapped. This allows each robot to be independently assigned different exploration areas and objectives in real time through a collaboration mechanism. The robots can then complete the grouped search of a wide range of unknown zones with autonomous navigation and routing.
Wei Tang added: “The success of this trial paves the way for the future adoption of quadruped robots in challenging and high-risk environments, supporting or replacing humans in performing life-threatening tasks, while increasing speed and reliability.” precision during emergency rescue operations”.
The innovative assay was made possible by DEEP Robotics’ advanced algorithm for coordinated autonomous exploration of multiple robots. The highly efficient movement and data traffic flow between the five X20 robots allows them to navigate in highly dynamic environments and autonomously choose the most efficient path while calculating alternative routes.
Details of the test and the results of the research have been published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers[1].
The X20 is the latest edition of DEEP Robotics’ Jueying series, successfully designed and deployed for industrial use since its launch in 2021. Tasks it performs include electrical inspections, emergency rescues, public safety inspections, tunnel inspections , mine and industrial sites, and construction site exploration.
