– EAGLYS, Mitsui and Quantinuum Collaborate to Build a Quantum-Resilient Data Analytics (AI) Platform Using Encryption Keys Strengthened by Quantum Computing

TOKYO, CAMBRIDGE, England and Broomfield, Colo., Dec. 13, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — In partnership, EAGLYS, Inc., Mitsui

Mitsui and EAGLYS have used secure computing technology to build a platform that allows research institutes and companies to collaborate securely using each other’s data and AI models. DataArmor exclusively maintains the confidentiality and security of sensitive data and AI models through homomorphic encryption, a technology that allows data analysis while still encrypted. This prevents encrypted data from being revealed when shared, protecting organizations and their intellectual property from advanced cyber threats.

EAGLYS has now integrated Quantum Origin, the world’s only solution that uses the power of quantum computing processes to provably strengthen encryption keys, as part of its quantum-resistant data analytics (AI) platform. This integration strengthens DataArmor’s resilience against the threat of a quantum computing-based attack.

Quantum computers are expected to drive major innovations in the future and be worth approximately 100 trillion yen by 20351. At the same time, the development of quantum computing technology poses a new threat to cryptographic security measures that protect confidentiality of encrypted data and communications. RSA, one of the most widely used cryptographic algorithms, could soon be cracked by cybercriminals to expose sensitive data. It’s unclear when a quantum computer will be able to crack existing encryption, but organizations are increasingly concerned about so-called “hack now, decrypt later” cybersecurity attacks. A recent Deloitte survey found that more than 50%2 of cyber professionals believe their organization is at risk of this attack, in which malicious third parties steal and store encrypted data for decryption when quantum computing technology becomes available.

As a countermeasure against these potential threats, organizations should strengthen encryption protection for data and AI models by using post-quantum cryptographic algorithms and hardening cryptographic keys.

Research institutes and companies increasingly need to collaborate using each other’s data and AI models to accelerate innovation in chemical materials development, drug discovery, financial analysis and retail trends. To maintain the confidentiality and security of the data and AI models used in these collaborations, EAGLYS’ DataArmor platform combines fully homomorphic encryption based on lattice cryptography and Quantum Origin’s quantum-derived entropy for key generation with the in order to strengthen protection against an attack based on quantum computing. In the future, the three companies will continue to develop new use cases for this platform.

“We are pleased to collaborate on this advanced project with Quantinuum, a world-class quantum computing company, and our valued partner Mitsui

“Through this collaboration, we can present a quantum-resistant data analytics (AI) platform capable of creating new value using EAGLYS’ secure computing technology. We are convinced that by combining EAGLYS’ secure computing technology with Quantum Origin, DataArmor will become an increasingly important solution to prepare for potential threats that may accompany the commercialization of quantum computers. We will continue to collaborate with both companies and focus on obtaining new customer values through the combination of secure computing and quantum technology,” said Koji Naniwada, Deputy General Manager and Senior Technical Director of the Quantum Innovation Department of Mitsui Corporate Development Division.

Duncan Jones, Chief Cyber Security Officer at Quantinuum, added: “Strengthening encryption keys is critical to protecting sensitive data in the post-quantum era, and Quantum Origin is the only technology in the world that demonstrably strengthens the generation of “With the integration of Quantum Origin, EAGLYS guarantees the security and integrity of its customers’ data.”
