BAODING, China, April 24, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — On April 18, GWM HAVAL’s new new energy midsize SUV (nicknamed “Fierce Dragon MAX in Chinese market) had its world premiere at Auto Shanghai 2023, attracting the attention of all participants in the room.

The HAVAL new energy SUV is the first GWM model to use Hi4 technology. As the first model of GWM HAVAL’s latest new-energy product family, this vehicle is positioned as a smart new-energy family SUV. The SUV has a 2.8-meter wheelbase and an exterior design with more EV features.

The vehicle will be launched in the Chinese market in May, said Qiao Xinyu, deputy general manager of marketing of HAVAL at the launch event. Thanks to the new Hi4 technology, this vehicle improves significantly in performance, economy and reliability.

HAVAL’s Product Manager presented the vehicle’s features at the motor show. In a real-world consumer scenario simulation test conducted in China, its overall WLTC fuel consumption is just 1.78 l/100 km, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.8 s.

Hi4 has been developed by GWM based on the concept of performance and efficiency, which is a new hybrid technology that combines intelligent features with a four-wheel drive system. Hi4 stands for Hybrid Intelligent 4WD. It uses a dual-motor design with both parallel and series connections between the front and rear axles, giving it the performance of a 4WD system and the energy efficiency of a 2WD system.

Hi4 can also be combined with GWM iTVC (Intelligent Torque Vectoring Control System) and Intelligent Energy Management System to ensure efficient operation of the vehicle’s powertrain in all speed ranges and scenarios, providing consumers with powerful performance and lower power consumption.

For energy consumption management, Hi4-equipped models can dynamically switch between 9 driving modes based on different operating conditions. In this way, the vehicle will always use the optimal driving mode in different driving scenarios to reduce energy consumption.

On April 20, GWM hosted a test drive and ride at its Baoding headquarters for media guests to experience its new energy products and technologies in a comprehensive way. With the support of Hi4, the vehicle can intelligently identify different driving scenarios through iTVC, and quickly distribute and dynamically adjust torque between the front and rear axles. This ensures that the vehicle can get great power in all driving scenarios. For example, when the vehicle starts off smoothly on level ground, power can be distributed between the front and rear axles, resulting in quicker acceleration compared to traditional dual-motor systems.

After the activity, attendees from various media recognized the vehicle’s performance under acceleration, the stability in the high-speed circular track test and the strength of the Hi4 technology, hoping for its launch in the foreign market as soon as possible.
