BARCELONA, Spain, Feb. 29, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — At Mobile World Congress 2024, electric power customers and leaders from international organizations gathered to discuss the latest practices and innovations. Huawei launched its Intelligent Distribution Solution (IDS) during the summit with the theme “Leading infrastructure to accelerate intelligence in electric power.”
David Sun, Vice President of Huawei and CEO of Electric Power Digitalization BU, Huawei, gave a keynote speech and launched the IDS. Huawei collaborated with ecosystem partners to develop the solution, which addresses high line losses, poor reliability, and strong pressure on new power load management. It enables electric power companies to move from single-point digitalization to systematic, open, evolutionary and architecture-backed digitalization, using several key technologies based on a cloud edge pipeline device architecture. Huawei suggests using local private cloud as a digital foundation on the cloud side. Wired and wireless solutions are available for the backhaul network. On the edge side, an all-in-one terminal called edge computing unit (ECU) acts as an efficient management carrier and combines communication, perception and computing functions. Next-generation high-speed power line carrier communication (HPLC) on the low-voltage communication pipeline side supports minute-level data acquisition, massive interactive connections, and a 99% acquisition success rate.
The IDS has been successfully implemented in China. It allows monitoring of distribution networks, real-time detection of the status of the 10 kV line and intelligent management of new low-voltage distributed energy. The solution combines HPLC and other new technologies. Improves transparent perception and digitalization of service in energy transformer districts. IDS has also returned positive results in initial testing in several countries outside China.
At the summit, Sigit Witjaksono, Director of Connectivity Business at PT. PLN Icon Plus, shared about its cooperation and innovative practices with Huawei on a fiber for multiple services and digital distribution. Mahmoud BinAhmed, Acting Chief Commercial Officer of Integrated Dawiyat, shared how to monetize the assets of a power company. Senelec Transmission Network Director Mam Singui Sarr presented the Senelec Smart Grid ONE Network concept. It was based on challenges and key indicators in energy transmission, transformation and distribution.
