The event, which under the slogan “Do Sports for the Planet”, has more than 30 editions in different Spanish cities uniting sport, care for the environment and solidarity, will be held on Sunday, October 29 on the island of Ibiza. The day will include several circuits for running or walking and a wide program of activities for all ages and levels of physical condition. Registrations, 100% supportive, for the benefit of APNEEF.
Ibiza and the Balearic Islands as a whole have become, in recent years, pioneers in the application of circularity and sustainability in the territory, creating a clear roadmap in their blue, sustainable and circular transition process. A new, more inclusive, environmental and social approach that is based on guaranteeing the well-being of all people, residents and visitors, and protecting natural resources and local biodiversity.
With this vision, as well as with that of combating sedentary lifestyles among the population, and promoting a new tourism and development model, with a main pillar in regenerative culture and circularity, for yet another year, the participants in the Ibiza Nationale-Nederlanden Plogging Tour They will be able to choose one of the three circuits of between 2 and 11 kilometers to run or walk, adapted to all ages and levels of physical condition, which combine directed sports and physical activity in the open air, with the collection of waste found in the path.
In this new edition that is held in Ibiza, the starting signal for the fourth tour of the Nationale-Nederlanden Plogging Tour that will visit different Spanish cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, A Coruña, Valencia, Malaga and Bilbao during 2024, new routes and area output.
Places are limited and all citizens, companies, associations and sports clubs who want to participate on October 29 can formalize their registration through the initiative’s website. The registration fee is €5 for adults and €1 for children, and 100% of the proceeds will go to social solidarity purposes for the benefit of APNEEF.
In addition, during the day on the island of Ibiza, you can enjoy a complete program of activities for children and adults in the Plogging Campus area. Fitness and Zumba classes, art workshops, reuse and recycling with textile, plastic and cardboard waste, a space to discover local biodiversity through Virtual Reality technology, an exhibition of sculptures made with “waste”, gymkhana and collaborative games for the little ones and a sports court where various exhibitions and a badminton masterclass will take place.
Nationale-Nederlanden Plogging Tour has been recognized this year with the Fitur Next Award and the El Corredor Award, and has the support of the Higher Sports Council and the sponsorship of Ibiza, the Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency ( AETIB), Nationale-Nederlanden that ratifies its commitment to the well-being of people and care for the planet; as well as Herbusa, Decathlon, an entity that celebrates 10 years of Environmental Volunteering with the commitment to protect biodiversity, the Ecólatras community of Ecovidrio and Garmin as the official watch of the race.
Since 2019, more than 50,000 kilos of waste have been recovered during the practice of different sports thanks to the participation of more than 20,000 citizens and hundreds of entities and companies that make up the Nationale-Nederlanden Plogging Tour community in Spain.
