Madrid, June 24, 2023. Twenty years ago, specifically in May 2003, intu Xanadú was inaugurated in the Madrid municipality of Arroyomolinos; and to celebrate it, the shopping resort organized this Friday, June 23, a party in style in which the actor, comedian and presenter Luis Larrodera acted as master of ceremonies.

“This year is very special for all of us who are part of intu Xandadú in one way or another; We are celebrating 20 years thanks to the trust of the operators, the dedication and effort of the workers and, of course, the loyalty of our visitors who choose intu Xanadú to spend their leisure time and shopping with us. Hence, we have organized this anniversary event to dedicate it to all of them”, says Alexis Martín, manager of intu Xanadú.

Thus, visitors, operators and employees of the center had the opportunity to enjoy and share a very special evening in ‘agora’ -the restaurant, leisure and entertainment area of ​​intu Xanadú-. The first of the surprises came from the production company LetsGo (creator of ‘The Hole’) and ‘Amazonía’, a show exclusively adapted from their show ‘Ayahuasca’ on the occasion of the 20th anniversary.

The ‘agora’ space was transformed into a magical place inspired by diversity, with aerial pole numbers in which winged beings showed their virtuosity, jaguar-like artists challenged balance and where an eight-meter snake, frogs, hummingbirds , puppets and a giant Amazonian flower flew above the public creating a unique atmosphere and environment.

An immersive experience created by the artistic director of LetsGo Felype de Lima (Max Award 2015 for Best Costume Design and creative director of the exhibition of ‘Tim Burton, the labyrinth’ and ‘Naturaleza ignited’) in which art, skill and technology through an impressive staging.

After the ‘Amazonía’ show, one of the most special and emotional moments of the night arrived. An impressive three-story cake made its appearance to sing Happy Birthday to all the attendees and blow out the 20 candles.

For intu Xanadú, the center’s workers are a very important part, so they could not miss this celebration either. All the staff of the stores and of ‘GenteXana’ (the program that includes both employees of the center and those of the contractors with the aim of creating a unique culture and team spirit) received a muffin with a candle to blow out at the same time. time and more than 40 of them also received a personalized gift for also celebrating 20 years working for intu Xanadú.

And since there are no birthdays without gifts, intu Xanadú wanted to make a very special one for all those present. The Argentine musician, singer and composer Coti (twice winner of a Grammy Award, Ondas Award in Spain, among others) joined the celebration to sing on the stage of ‘agora’ some of his greatest hits such as ‘Nada de esto fue an error’, ‘Before seeing the sun’ or ‘Colour hope’. A live performance in which the artist gave his all to make those present enjoy themselves to the fullest as they chanted and danced to some of the songs that have become authentic Spanish and Ibero-American rock anthems. A grand finale that ended with a second showing of the show ‘Amazonía’ for those people who could not see it in the first one or wanted to enjoy the show again.

But this was not all that intu Xanadú organized to celebrate its 20th anniversary. During the day of June 23, different workshops and activities were organized and offered with the aim of having fun and distributing gifts among the visitors. Divided into four different spaces, in the first one a large greenhouse was installed to plant cuttings, aromatic flowers, etc… and where clay workshops were also held with a real wheel. In addition, there was a special pass for members of the Arroyoinclusión Association with the aim of allowing them to enjoy the workshops and make them part of this very special day.

In the second of the spaces, visitors had the opportunity to spin a giant pinwheel to win up to 2,000 euros in prizes; while at a stand called ‘¡A vivir que son melonas!’, skewers of this tasty summer fruit were distributed and they were also able to take a key ring made of direct crochet by two experts. Finally, in the last of the spaces, cotton candy happyclouds were given away in the catering area (agora).

Likewise, the celebrations for the 20th anniversary will continue throughout the summer with a program of musical performances that will take place every Saturday in July and August on the ‘agora’ stage; while Sunday mornings will be dedicated to the little ones with free cinema sessions at 12:00 noon and various children’s activities from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. during July, August and until Sunday, September 10.

Finally, intu Xanadú has prepared a very special action for the month of August: the Butterfly Garden, a guided tour with expert entomologists in which visitors organized in groups of 20 people will have the opportunity to learn all about species from different parts of the world. They will flutter around freely. The butterfly workshops will take place from August 15 to 24, while the butterfly farm will be on August 25, 26 and 27.
