– Kolon Industries targets global market with eco-friendly technical textiles through ‘Techtextil 2024’, a leading international textile trade show

FRANKFURT, Germany and SEOUL, South Korea, April 24, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Kolon Industries Inc. (KRX: 120110), South Korea’s leading chemical and textile materials manufacturer, proposes a sustainable future by introducing carbon reduction technologies and green products at the world’s leading international textile and nonwovens fair.

Kolon Industries announced on the 24th that it will exhibit Heracron® aramid, Finon® nonwoven PET (polyester), and PET Chamude® leather at Techtextil 2024, which will be held in Frankfurt, Germany, from April 23 to 26. Techtextil is the world’s largest exhibition showcasing innovative industrial textile technologies and materials.

Kolon Industries shares innovative aramid use cases with its customers. Last year, the company actively carried out digital transformation within the production process by expanding its aramid production to 15,310 tons. Realizing faster deliveries, optimized quality checks and energy control led to lower carbon emissions and greater customer value. Additionally, the company plans to improve the energy efficiency of its aramid pulp production and manufacture products with 30% fewer carbon emissions, by expanding its production to 3,000 tons in the second half of this year. Aramid pulp is made by cutting and grounding aramid yarn.

Sustainable products made from recycled water bottles will also be on display. PET spunbond nonwoven is expanding its market share in Europe for carpet applications by achieving global green certifications such as GRS and EPD. PET leather prioritizes environmental friendliness accredited by GRS and Oeko-Tex, a European certification system that demonstrates zero harm to the environment and humans. Through these products, Kolon aims to increase connections with customers in the European and North American market for flooring and automotive interior materials.

“Techtextil is a good opportunity to showcase our various textile technologies in the global market,” said COO Choi Yoeng-baeg. “The European market is especially driving green transitions and we will actively demonstrate our sustainable technologies,” he added.
