Casar de Cáceres, August 7, 2023.- The Torta del Casar Regulatory Council will celebrate the Torta del Casar Week from October 12 to 19, 2023. This is the 29th edition and its objective is to promote consumption, making cheese and the culture that surrounds it known through various activities held in different places.

In this line, the Regulatory Council has held the first meeting with the new municipal corporation of Casar de Cáceres to inform them of the objectives and plans for Cake Week. Over the next few weeks, progress will be made in the configuration of the final program of activities, which, maintaining the format of the latest editions, will be focused on allowing people of all ages to participate in the event, expanding their knowledge about the Torta del Casar.

The days from October 12 to 15 will be especially active, with the celebration of the VII edition of the European Cheese Fair in Casar de Cáceres, complemented by children’s workshops, commented tastings and culinary demonstrations around cheese. Also during those days, the XIV Route of the Tapas will take place in bars and restaurants in Casar de Cáceres, and the XVII Transhumant Route with crumbs, milking demonstration and raffles.

During the rest of the week, there will be different activities aimed at raising awareness and dissemination of PDO cheese, both for young people from schools in the region and surrounding areas, as well as for adults. The objective is to make known the secrets of making the Torta del Casar, with visits to the cheese factories and the cheese museum, as well as through talks and conferences. To bring the Torta del Casar Week to an end, the institutional act will take place on October 19 in which the Torta del Casar Regulatory Council recognizes the work of people and entities that have stood out for collaborating in the dissemination of the product and Your activities.

The president of the D.O.P Torta del Casar, Ángel Juan Pacheco, highlights that with the celebration of Torta del Casar Week they are working so that “in a playful way, but at the same time formative, the work carried out by the operators registered in the D.O.P., as well as distributors, restaurants, rural accommodation, and, in short, all the people linked to the Torta de Casar territory who generate wealth in the region”.

For her part, the mayoress of Casar de Cáceres, Marta Jordán, indicates that the City Council wants to “give this Week the importance it deserves, involving all of society and making the title of Casar de Cáceres as ‘Capital’ a real Cake World Cup”. “To do this, we will contribute everything in our power,” the mayoress concluded.
