BOSTON, Aug. 8, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The Brattle Group is pleased to announce that Director Torben Voetmann has been elected as its next Chairman, effective immediately. Dr. Voetmann succeeds Director David J. Hutchings, who has served as Acting President. Hutchings returns to consulting full-time, focusing primarily on transfer pricing and tax dispute matters.

Dr. Voetmann has been a director of Brattle’s San Francisco office for a decade and a member of the company’s Management Committee since 2020, one of several leadership roles he has held. In his consulting work, Dr. Voetmann has testified in trials and hearings, and has consulted on topics related to financial econometrics, corporate finance, event studies, stock market behavior, market microstructure, capital markets and loss and damage assessment. His professional and testifying experience covers issues related to market efficiency and materiality in securities fraud and misrepresentation and omission cases. Dr. Voetmann has also been an expert witness in valuation matters related to mergers and acquisitions, appraisal actions, and other litigation related to the valuation of private and public companies. He advises on litigation related to private equity and venture capital investments, valuation of illiquid securities, and options. He also frequently handles transaction-related litigation, investigations and valuations involving large and complex data sets.
Dr. Voetmann is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles for prestigious financial journals, including the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Financial Management, Review of Finance, Quarterly Journal of Finance, and The European Journal of Finance.
Prior to joining Brattle, Dr. Voetmann was a director of a global economic consultancy. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in corporate finance, equity analysis, and valuation at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
