-Xinhua Silk Road: Dehua from Fujian, eastern China, promotes white porcelain at the Birmingham Autumn Fair, UK
BEIJING, Sept. 8, 2023/PRNewswire/ — Fujian Dehua County Investment Promotion Meeting and Ceramic Enterprise Supply-Demand Matchmaking Meeting were held in Birmingham, United Kingdom on September 4.
Fifteen ceramic enterprises from Dehua county of Quanzhou city, east China’s Fujian province, brought more than 2,000 fine Dehua ceramics to the Birmingham Autumn Fair in the UK.
As early as 3,700 years ago, Dehua began making ceramics, becoming an important birthplace of Chinese ceramic culture. Ceramics is now the most important leading industry in Dehua, with products from more than 4,000 ceramic enterprises being exported to more than 190 countries and regions, said Huang Wenjie, party chief of Dehua county.
In 2015, Dehua was awarded the title of “World Ceramic Capital” by the United Nations World Crafts Council, Huang added.
The establishment of a Dehua porcelain exhibition area at the fair provides a valuable platform for supply and purchasing parties to better know each other, he said.
“This year we established new contacts with Chinese manufacturers, allowing buyers to see that all manufacturers not only have beautiful products but also adhere to responsible purchasing principles,” said Nicola Meadows, divisional general manager of retail, manufacturing and engineering by Hyve Exhibition Group.
Four Dehua porcelain companies held promotional demonstrations at the event. An official from Fujian Quanzhou Shunmei Group Co., Ltd. said the company has already established business agreements with several large retailers in the United Kingdom and hopes to further expand cooperation and market development through this exhibition.
The Dehua delegation also visited the Ceramic Cultural Park of the famous British ceramic brand Wedgwood and the Overseas Cross-Border E-Commerce Exhibition Center.
The Autumn Fair was first held in 1976. It is a long-established and influential consumer goods fair in the United Kingdom. This year’s show attracted more than 600 exhibitors and more than 19,000 buyers from around the world.
