The site of the former Strohecker’s grocery store is hitting the market.

Tim Sotoodeh, one of the property’s owners, said the site has generated a lot of interest from neighbors and developers.

“If they wanted to do something special with it, this might be their chance,” he said.

The family-run grocery store opened in 1902 and closed last year. It was known for its specialty food and well-stocked wine cellar.

The 1.14-acre site, which is being marketed by commercial real estate brokerage firm Marcus & Millichap, includes a 20,000 square-foot building that formerly housed the grocery store, as well as a pharmacy and a liquor store.

Michael Shall, a senior associate at the firm, said people have expressed interest in both redeveloping and reusing the building. He’s hoping to involve neighbors and the neighborhood association in the process, he said.

“The biggest thing the neighborhood wants,” he said, “is a grocer.”

According to county property records, the site sold for $5.4 million in 2012. Marcus & Millichap are listing the site without a price.

The site address is 2855 S.W. Patton Rd. Those interested in making an offer can contact Michael Kapnick, a vice president at Marcus & Millichap, at 503-200-2034 or mkapnick@marcusmillichap.com.
