Alcoy, January 8, 2024.- In a significant advance towards a more sustainable textile industry, the TINABLE project, developed by the AITEX research and innovation center and supported by the Generalitat Valenciana, demonstrates an efficient use of resources natural, integrating natural dyes and recycled water in their processes.
The textile industry, traditionally known for its high consumption of resources and its environmental impact, is in a process of transformation. The TINABLE project has developed an innovative approach that combines the use of natural dyes with the recycling of wastewater, marking a milestone in sustainability and industrial efficiency.
During the research carried out by AITEX, natural colorants and pretreatments such as salts and tannins have been explored, which have allowed the creation of a wide range of vibrant and long-lasting colors. These natural dyes offer a sustainable alternative to synthetic chemicals, reducing environmental impact without compromising quality.
Another key facet of the project is wastewater recycling. TINABLE has successfully implemented a pilot plant that allows water to be reused in the dyeing process, thus reducing the total consumption of fresh water by 25% and reducing wastewater treatment and discharge costs.
The TINABLE project, supported by the Conselleria d’Economia Sostenible, Sectors Productius, Comerç i Treball of the Generalitat Valenciana, through the IVACE (IMAMCA/2022/6), not only demonstrates the technical feasibility of these innovations, but also establishes a new standard for the textile industry, focused on sustainability and respect for the environment. This project is a clear example of how technology and innovation can lead to a greener and more efficient textile industry.
