SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica, February 8, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — 15 Costa Rican fresh produce companies will participate in what is considered the main global event for the sector, with the aim of positioning their important export catalog. This is the Fruit Logistics Fair, which will take place from February 7 to 9, 2024 in Berlin, Germany.
Hand in hand with the Promoter of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica (PROCOMER), for three days the country delegation will exhibit, through an essential Costa Rica stand, its harvests of: fresh pineapple, cassava, eddoes, taro, ginger, pipa, cane , sweet potato, chayote, coconut, papaya, banana and plantain, as well as products with added value, such as, for example: dehydrated pineapple, candied and with chocolate, gluten-free flours and banana chips.

According to data from the Commercial Intelligence Directorate of PROCOMER, the agricultural sector and the food industry, both in the fresh product category, occupy the second (18%) and third (14%) position respectively in importance, according to with its participation in exports of goods recorded as of November 2023. Its main buyers are the United States, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Italy.

The Fruit Logistics 2024 Fair will also serve to promote PROCOMER’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) attraction strategy, whose purpose is to diversify the origin of investment and open the way for companies belonging to the sector to establish their operations in the country.

The national representation will present the Discover program, through a cocktail-type activation with products such as turmeric, ginger and mango – recently incorporated into the discoveries portfolio -, with the aim of revaluing agriculture as a sustainable activity towards an inclusive and dynamic economy , and promote the attraction of investment in rural and coastal areas of the country.
