Almería, April 19, 2023.
Páez Customs, a family business founded in Almería in 1928 under the name of Agencia Páez, celebrates its 95th anniversary this year. During this time, the company has been a benchmark in the field of fruit and vegetable customs clearance.
Last Saturday, April 1, the company celebrated its 95th anniversary at an event that brought together some of its clients and representatives of the sector together with suppliers, collaborators and friends. During the event, the trajectory of Páez Aduanas and its contribution to the development, expansion and conquest of other markets of many of the most important fruit and vegetable companies in Almería were highlighted. Páez Aduanas was founded the same year that the Cervantes Theater, the Nicolás Salmerón Park, the Plaza de Toros and the Almería School of Arts and Crafts, among others, were inaugurated. The incorporation of the fourth generation to the company, made up of José and Alberto Páez, shows the will of Páez Aduanas to continue being a benchmark company and adapt to changes thanks to innovation and a clear vision. José Páez, current CEO of Páez Aduanas, spoke about the meaning of the company’s 95th anniversary, stating that it is a source of great pride and an enormous responsibility to continue maintaining the values that have been the company’s hallmark. Among the main values defended by Páez Aduanas, closeness, differentiation, resolution, responsibility and adaptability stand out, although they could be summarized as “help and help”. Páez Aduanas has overcome many challenges and obstacles throughout its history, from Spain’s entry into the European Union to Russia’s ban on European fruits and vegetables, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has managed to maintain its position in the market thanks to their dedication, perseverance and passion for what they do. Regarding the evolution of the customs clearance sector in recent years, José Páez points out that everything has been digitized and streamlined a lot, but depending on the Administration, digitization and innovation in it, due to size issues, is always slower and more expensive, so they are still halfway to what the sector can be and will be. Páez Customs points out that the changes and challenges of the market are innumerable, but so are the opportunities, which is why they move forward with great flexibility and caution, but with a firm step. Regarding the projects that the company has underway, they are working on opening new lines of business and focused on optimizing processes, digitization and automation, all with the same purpose of providing the best service and helping their customers.
