– The European Union relies on Element-E: the revolutionary climate tech 3Bee methodology to develop the first certified biodiversity credits
The EU recognizes 3Bee as the reality capable of developing biodiversity credits thanks to Element-E, the innovative terrestrial biodiversity monitoring protocol based on bioacoustics and remote sensing. This innovative methodology, in line with the RLSC Directive and the Nature Restoration Act, will allow companies to improve their impact on biodiversity and offset it.
MILAN, November 3, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — From Italy comes the development of the first certified biodiversity credits: 3Bee, the leading climate technology company in protecting biodiversity through technology, has been selected by the European Innovation Council in the field of the “EIC Accelerator”. 648 European companies submitted their written proposal by the deadline of June 2023: of them, only 5% accessed the financing, and less than 0.5% are Italian.
3Bee’s revolutionary biodiversity credit approach will work in response to the growing number of companies subject to sustainability reporting (NFRD directive) since the publication of the new sustainability directive, supporting the strategic management of target issues Sustainability Assessment (ESG) to objectively verify and quantify impacts in terms of biodiversity regeneration. Companies will be able to control and regenerate the biodiversity of their production centers and supply chains, but also promote reliable compensation. This is the context of the Element-E protocol, which will make it possible to monitor and quantify, also thanks to artificial intelligence, the impact of regeneration projects developed in line with the new European regulatory framework, which forces companies to evaluate their impact to the preparation of ESG reports.
Thanks to the EIC Accelerator, 3Bee will apply the Element-E protocol in a total of 250 sites in 4 European countries – Italy, France, Germany and Spain – with the aim of scientifically validating the methodology in different climatic and geographical zones. “EIC Accelerator will allow us to develop the technology to certify biodiversity protection on a European scale, consolidating our Oases in up to 4 European states. – says Niccolò Calandri, CEO of 3Bee – 3Bee will thus become the first provider of biodiversity protection with the support of the European Union”.
3Bee has developed the Element-E protocol in collaboration with universities and research and development centers. These renowned institutions, together with the support of funding bodies such as ESA (European Space Agency), underline its strength and effectiveness. Aiming to bring biodiversity credits to market within two years, 3Bee’s revolutionary data- and technology-based approach to biodiversity protection is an important step towards achieving the goals of the Biodiversity Strategy. EU, guaranteeing transparency, reliability and scalability.
