Data from 150 million users has been tapped by a hacker attack on nutrition and Calorie counter app MyFitnessPal of US sporting goods manufacturer Under Armour. This was already done at end of February, but it was only recently noticed, shared Under Armour. Thus, among or things, user names and e-mails were stolen, but no more sensitive information such as credit card data or social Security numbers. Users were asked to change ir password quickly.

The company, according to its own data, commissioned an IT security company with an investigation and cooperates with authorities. Under Armour’s share price fell by more than three percent.
The incident was announced at a time when issue of user data security is being discussed in wake of Facebook data scandal. In January, discovery also attracted attention that fitness tracking app Strava on its global Heatmap inadvertently also publishes sensitive information about military bases in crisis areas where soldiers use app.
